Zu den Plattform-Kooperativen, kurz Platform Coops, zählen Genossenschaften mit einem digitalen Geschäftsmodell, aber auch andere Unternehmensformen, die Eigentum und Mitbestimmung neu denken.

Definition of “Platform Coops”

The term “platform coops” gained some popularity lately. A platform coop is a cooperatively owned, democratically governed business that establishes a computing platform, and uses a website, mobile app or a protocol to facilitate the sale of goods and services. Platform cooperatives, or platform coops for short, include cooperatives with a digital business model, but also other forms of enterprises that rethink ownership and collaborative decisionmaking.

14:15-14:30 Clarification: What are platform coops?

14:30-15:30 Presentation of digital cooperatives, purpose organisations, foundations and other organisations with distributed ownership and democratic control. We present SuperCoop, Circles Coop, polypoly SCE, SmartDE and Berlin zu Dir as practical and inspiring examples.

15:30-17:00 Founding process of a Platform Coop: business model, founding team, statutes/governance, financing, time sequence and overview of expected costs.

17:00-17:15 Break

18:15-18:30 Final round: Conclusion, exchange of resources and contacts.

Who is this workshop for?

This workshop is for anyone who is thinking about starting a Platform Coop. During the workshop, crucial questions about the business model, articles of association, financing and form of enterprise can be clarified. If desired, we can also pass on contact to appropriate advisors for explicitly legal questions.
