Towards a ‘Sharing City’ Berlin? – Potentialities of the Sharing & Collaborative Economy in Berlin

On the initiative of the Berlin Senat’s Department for Economy, Technology and Research, a team of researchers started to work on an account of the city’s potential in the field of the Sharing & Collaborative Economy.
Andreas Arnold, Thomas Dönnebrink, Ela Kagel and Ute Scheub were comissioned to carry out an analysis of the potential of the Sharing & Collaborative Economy in Berlin. The four research group members share their insights in the local scene and work towards a profound understanding of the economic potential, the work conditions and support structures for these new economic models.

Within a short period of time, the team compiled interesting findings and resources, which they are going to discuss on the evening of January 27th together with various local actors in the field. They will present a selection of preliminary results from an online survey which is directed towards intiatives, organisations and activists from the Sharing & Collaborative Economy. Furthermore, the research team will present resources such as the Sharing Berlin Map along with a range of practical examples. The evening will be finished off with a small barcamp format, in which the audience will organise itself around themes such as regulations, taxes, bussiness models and many more.

Everyone who is interested in alternative economies, and especially sharing & collaboration practices, is very welcome to participate.
