DIY MASTERCLASS #10: Urbane Unabhängigkeit & Selbsterhaltung

27. March 2013 @ 15:00 - 18:00

Over the last two years, Valentina Karga has been researching the topics of autonomy, open source knowledge, alternative economies, DIY culture and its potential to generate communities, and how all these are visible in the spectrum of self-sufficiency. Through her research she aims to build a totally autonomous urban habitat using only free knowledge exchange and collaboration.

In this free DIY Masterclass at SUPERMARKT, Valentina explains how to make basic infrastructural plans as well as how systems like aquaponics, biogas digesters, solar cookers and compost toilets work. She offers tips about how to grow and preserve your own food, and discusses the different possibilities of living a sustainable lifestyle, even in the city of Berlin. Participants with further interest will have the possibility to join Valentina’s team building a ‘sustainability system’ from April – June 2013.

This Masterclass is free. The language of presentation will be English.

If you would like to attend please send a short email to rsvp[a]supermarkt-berlin.net.

Presenter bio: Valentina Karga holds a Masters in Architecture from the University of Thessaly, Greece. Sustainability, re-use, closed loop systems, self containing systems, environmental and food quality are foci of her work. She is currently completing a research fellowship at the Graduate School of the University of Arts Berlin; a post-graduate interdisciplinary and international program with the goal to advance dialogue between the arts, sciences and humanities.
