Barcamp – 3 June // OuiShare Summit Berlin

The world of work is changing: permanent jobs, climbing the career ladder, finances, social status and traditional notions of security are today being questioned by a growing number of people around the world.

But it is not only individuals: more and more companies are also beginning to rethink these outdated notions. The reasons are as diverse as complex: with existential competition for the best talent and new technologies that make decentralised working possible, there was development cycles become shorter and shorter, not to forget the economic, political and social pressure, to produce in resource-saving and eco-friendly ways.

In response to our outdated working structures and systems has grown a movement of social innovators, activists and initiatives who choose to consciously think and act differently. They call for self-organisation, with the goal to redefine the very concepts of ‘work’ and ‘value’. Thus, a variety of new models for housing, finance, nutrition and work are being developed, often in the form of cooperatives or alternative business structures. Against this backdrop we are working to create a new culture of sharing that redefines economy, industry and commence alike: Welcome to the Share Economy!

As with anything new, the Share Economy has challenges that need to be addressed. In the search for alternative organisational structures, there is the need for a new vocabulary and the necessity to develop participatory platforms for a variety of stakeholders – for workers and businesses, as well as politics and government systems.

We want to tackle these challenges head on this June 3, together with guests: What do these developments mean for our working lives? How can we most efficiently live and work in the Sharing Society? What types of spaces, formats and political representation do we need? How can we finance our own livelihoods? And where lies the limitations of the Sharing Economy?

In our search for suitable answers to these problems (after all, one answer will not be enough), we will call on support and collaboration from a variety of organisations and experts in the field.
