DIY Masterclass & Practical: Are you a Graphic Recorder?
30. October 2013 @ 15:00 - 19:00€10
PART 1: Theory and demonstration [30 October 2013, 3-7pm]
PART 2: Practical exercise during Berliner Gazette’s COMPLICITY Conference [7-9 November 2013]
The DIY Masterclass “Are you a Graphic Recorder?” offers insight into the themes and practice of graphic recording, followed by a practical trial at an exciting event. Graphic recording serves to visually support, enhance and document the spoken word at any kind of event – from conferences, to workshops and seminars. The images are designed to document information, assemble ideas and visualise themes.
PART 1: DIY Masterclass on theory and demonstrations [30 Oct 2013, 3-7pm]
In this DIY Masterclass we will discuss theory, skills and techniques on graphic recording. We’ll also do some practical exercises and a dry run. Some drawing skills or experience would be helpful, but they are not necessary. The workshop will be a mixture of English and German according to group preferences on the day.
Materials: If you prefer to draw with your own markers or pens, you are free to bring them. Markers of any colour or size are fine.
Cost: Cost for the workshop is €10
Registration: There only is space and material for up to 20 people, so please register your attendance by sending a short email to rsvp [at] supermarkt-berlin.net with the subject heading GRAPHIC RECORDING. You also should have the availability to join in for a practical exercise on at least one of the Conference days [7-9 November].
PART 2: Practical exercise [7- 9 November 2013]
How will you know if you love it, if you have never tried it? Experience graphic recording for yourself. After the dry run we offer you your first real life experience as a graphic recorder at Berliner Gazette’s COMPLICITY conference. Please note English is the main conference language. This initiative is a collaboration between SUPERMARKT, Gabriele Schlipf and Berliner Gazette.
About the Instructor: Gabriele Schlipf is an artistic translator, simultaneously turning the spoken word into graphic images. As a graphic recorder, she documents all kinds of topics during discussions, workshops or lectures, both in Germany and abroad. Gabriele Schlipf has formal qualifications in Visual Communication studies.
