24. Mai 2018 @ 15:00 - 18:00
Veranstaltung Navigation
We are glad to be hosting one of the key people who helped to initiate the international Platform Coop-movement at SUPERMARKT: Nathan Schneider!
Together with Nathan and other core players of the Platform Coop movement in Berlin we will map out the international platform coop ecosystem. The aim of this event is to create an overview of resources, people, networks and events around the world. The more we know about what is going on the better we can connect the nodes and help making the movement even more sustainable and powerful. Nathan will share his insights from the international platform coop scene with us and will provide us with case studies and concrete resources for everyone who is either already running or currently setting up a platform coop.
About Nathan Schneider:
Nathan Schneider is a Scholar-in-Residence of media studies at the University of Colorado, Boulder. He has written for Harper’s, The Nation, The New York Times, The Guardian, and other publications. His most recent books include „Thank You, Anarchy: Notes from the Occupy Apocalypse“ and, together with Trebor Scholz: “Ours to Hack and to Own – The Rise of Platform Cooperativism, A New Vision for the Future of Work and a fairer Internet“.
Nathan is hosting the Internet of Ownership platform, an online resource that helps supporting the platform coop ecosystem with a directory of projects, a library and a blog.
Nathan has recently published an interesting article on the Guardian last year: „Here is my plan to save Twitter – let’s buy it!“
This text sparked a big debate around the terms of service of social media platforms and the role of the „user“ in general.
